As the Mile High City gears up for an eclectic mix of weather, the National Weather Service in Denver indicates that Denver and its surrounding regions should expect a blend of sunshine, possible showers, and thunderstorms over the coming week. With partly cloudy skies and a relative humidity of 77%, today could see a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 pm, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures are slated to soar with highs reaching near 80°F today, while a shift in the wind from northwest to northeast in the morning could add a slight breeze to Denver's streets. Tonight's forecasts suggest partly cloudy skies and a comforting low around 56°F. Tomorrow, residents should be ready for more sun but keep an umbrella close, as there's a 20 percent chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, with highs nearing the upper 80s. In a dispatch, the NWS stressed that the threat of severe weather remains low, despite the scattered thunderstorm predictions for the mountains on Sunday.
Beginning Monday, the weather narrative is expected to take a turn with a 70% likelihood of showers and a possible thunderstorm rolling in after noon. Subsequently, Monday night may bring more pronounced weather activity, having a 90% chance of rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. Temperatures are anticipated to drop on Tuesday, with showers and thunderstorms also possible, carrying through until the night.
The forecast extends into the midweek with continued chances of showers and thunderstorms, especially after noon on Wednesday. Highs should hover around the mid-60s, which contrasts with the potentially higher temperatures from earlier in the week. A hazardous weather outlook has also been issued for northeast and north central Colorado, but as of now, spotter activation will not be needed today and tonight, the NWS confirms. Moreover, with potential rainfall merging with the spring snowmelt, locals should be watchful of rising stream levels in mountain areas.
