In a recent and heartfelt social media post from the Denver Police Department, the life and legacy of Officer Dale Coski were honored. This commemoration came after the late officer's name was added to the Colorado Law Enforcement Memorial in Golden. The post, which detailed the ceremony on Friday, remarked on the enduring spirit and service of Officer Coski, who became a quadriplegic and lost her left leg in a tragic accident while on duty in 1983.
Officer Coski's history of service was cut short when she was hit by a vehicle as she assisted with a flat tire on Interstate 70, placing her in the line of duty until her passing on September 26, 2024. Despite the challenges she faced after the accident, Coski is remembered as a committed police officer and a U.S. Army veteran. Her life was commemorated yesterday, among five other fallen officers, each a testament to the sacrifices made in the name of public safety and civic responsibility.
At the memorial, reflections on Officer Coski's courage were shared, as cited by the Denver Police Department. The department remembered her with respect, marking her for over a year of service, before the incident that forever changed her trajectory. Her personal life was equally rich, filled with the love of her wife, her sister, a nephew, a great-nephew, a lifelong friend, and the unwavering support of her caregivers.
