
Residents of Douglas County have spoken, and the results of the 2025 Citizen Survey have been published by the county, available for anyone interested in diving into the statistics that reveal residents' satisfaction levels across a variety of services. Checking out the figures, a striking 94% believe their county is a safe place to live and work, while 89% gave the nod to Douglas County as a ripe environment for family-raising. As for community vibes, 82% felt the county is a swell place to make friends.
When it comes to County services, there are a lot of happy campers with 84% giving thumbs up to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and 85% are satisfied with how the snow gets shoveled off their roads. But, the biggest smiles were saved for the parks and trails, and getting license plates sorted at the motor vehicle registration office, with 91% and 85% satisfaction scores, respectively. Even the most grumbled-about service still managed to rake in over a 60% satisfaction rate, according to Douglas County.
Yet, it's not all camaraderie and kumbaya. The survey, implemented by Hill Research Associates between April 21 and May 2, drizzled a bit of cold water on the warm fuzzies. Just over half of the respondents, at 50%, believe Douglas County is cruising in the right direction; however, a near-identical 48% beg to differ, stating the county's off on the wrong track, with the remaining 2% scratching their heads in uncertainty. And when it comes to county government love, 64% send some affection, while 35% don't seem to have much to give.
