Phil Robertson, famed for his role as the patriarch on A&E's "Duck Dynasty," has passed away at the age of 79. His daughter-in-law Korie Robertson confirmed the death yesterday, in a Facebook post that was later reported by FOX 8 Live. Known for his blunt personality and deep religious conviction, Robertson's health had been deteriorating due to Alzheimer's disease and a concurrent blood disorder, as shared by his family on their podcast "Unashamed with The Robertson Family."
Despite the challenges of his condition, which had reportedly worsened in recent months, Robertson remained a figure of stoic faith within his family and community. "We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord," Korie Robertson told KPLC TV in an emotional tribute. Jase Robertson, Phil's son, had previously indicated the gravity of his father's health struggles, noting the elder Robertson was fighting a series of ailments that exacerbated his declining health.
Phil Robertson rose to prominence through the reality series "Duck Dynasty," which aired from 2012 to 2017 and chronicled the lives of the Robertson family and their Duck Commander business. The show carved out a cultural niche, combining humor, family dynamics, and a strong undercurrent of Christian faith, capturing the attention of millions of viewers. Even as A&E announced a reboot of the franchise, the network did not mention Phil in the promotional materials, a fact reported by FOX 8 Live.
Reflecting on Phil Robertson's legacy, Lootpress shared words from Korie Robertson's Instagram post: "Phil lived his life boldly, unashamed of his faith, and dedicated to spreading the message of Jesus." Before succumbing to his illnesses, Robertson was a successful entrepreneur, turning his Duck Commander startup into a family enterprise that significantly outpaced its humble beginnings.
