
On Thursday, the Honolulu Fire Department responded to a call at 10:09 a.m. about a female hiker in her 20s who was unable to continue down the Koko Crater Trail due to illness. The rescue operation involved 22 personnel from 7 units, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.
The first Honolulu Fire Department unit arrived at the scene by 10:15 a.m., and the rescue team located the hiker a third of the way up the trail by 10:22 a.m. After a medical assessment and basic life support, the hiker was assisted down the trail. By 10:51 a.m., she was transferred to Emergency Medical Services for further care.
The Koko Crater Trail is popular for its views but can be challenging. Hikers are advised to stay within their limits and bring enough water and supplies. A recent rescue shows the importance of caution on outdoor trails, as reported by the Honolulu Fire Department.
