Washington D.C. authorities report that a series of carjackings this past Wednesday evening resulted in the arrest of five juvenile suspects. As detailed by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), two separate incidents occurred within one hour of each other in Northeast D.C., leading to a quick response by law enforcement.

The first carjacking happened at around 9:10 p.m. in the 2400 block of 4th Street, Northeast, when, parking and exiting their vehicle, the victim was confronted by several suspects, one brandishing a gun, demanding their car keys. After obtaining the keys, the suspects took off with the victim's white 2013 Toyota Camry, as per the MPD report. Barely an hour later and not far away, a second victim faced a similar situation on the 1400 block of Otis Street, Northeast, resulting in the theft of a 2017 silver Honda Accord.

Finding both carjacked vehicles became a top priority for the Fifth District officers, who, with the aid of Falcon 1, MPD's helicopter, and contributions from MPD's Real Time Crime Center, tracked down the vehicles to the 1200 block of 3rd Street, Northeast. Despite an attempt to evade capture, the five young suspects were subsequently arrested following a foot chase.

Charges of two counts of Armed Carjacking (Gun) have been filed against the suspects, consisting of two 16-year-old males from Southeast, D.C., two 15-year-old males, and a 14-year-old male from Northeast, D.C. Recovered at the scene were the two vehicles and a pair of weapon replicas, including a black water gun resembling a rifle and an imitation Glock handgun, the MPD reported.

As the MPD continues its investigation into these incidents, they encourage anyone with information to contact them directly at (202) 727-9099 or send an anonymous tip through their TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Department also offers a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for violent crimes in the District of Columbia.
