A fire erupted in a classic car showroom in Phoenix, causing significant damage to numerous vehicles, the Phoenix Fire Department said. The blaze took place near 5th Street and Dunlap Avenue and was reported to firefighting teams around 5 p.m. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, between 15-17 classic muscle cars were burned in the incident, with an additional 20 cars rescued from destruction.
Firefighters attached extended hose lines, bringing them into the building to quell the flames before they could reach other vehicles. "Crews were able to extend hose lines into the structure to gain fire control and eventually extinguish the fire," a statement from Phoenix fire officials noted, as reported by 12 News. In a clarifying note, there were no injuries reported stemming from the fire.
The cause of the fire is pending investigation, with officials suspecting the origin may have been a single car engine inside the showroom. While the exact trigger of the engine fire is yet to be determined, crews are meticulously working to ascertain the specifics of the incident.
Meanwhile, coverage by 12 News highlighted the fast-moving nature of the fire, and the swift response by the fire department ensured the flames were contained. The number of cars damaged has not been clearly established, and the quick response by firefighters prevented the fire from spreading further into the showroom, where additional vehicles were at risk.
With both firefighting efforts and investigative proceedings underway, the Phoenix classic car community awaits further updates on this unfortunate occurrence. The estimated value of the losses, considering the vintage nature of the cars involved, is likely to be significant.
