Floridians experienced another week of erratic gas prices, witnessing a swing from a state average of $3.04 per gallon on Monday to $3.18 by Thursday, before dipping back down to $3.10 on Sunday. The trend, as identified by AAA, showcases the state's average gas price bouncing between $2.96 and $3.30 per gallon since September of the previous year, sticking drivers with an average price around $3.11. According to AAA, as reported by The Apopka Voice, these fluctuations have become a regular occurrence for motorists in the Sunshine State.

Having analyzed the recent trends, AAA spokesperson Mark Jenkins anticipates that "Florida gas prices are poised to move lower this week," given that the oil prices fell last week. This anticipated drop is related to concerns that, with OPEC and its allies potentially flooding the market with additional oil, combined with fears over a global economic slowdown, fuel demand might be reduced. Jenkins, discussing the performance of oil markets, indicated there were declines in crude-oil costs, after a brief spike in Florida gas prices to an average of $3.18 before they retreated again to $3.08 per gallon on Monday, as reported by CBS News Miami.

Regional variations within the state have continued to exist, with the lowest average prices in the Crestview-Fort Walton Beach area at $2.74 a gallon as of Monday. In stark contrast, West Palm Beach-Boca Raton drivers faced the highest average at $3.24 a gallon, illustrating the significant range across different locales. AAA corroborated these figures and highlighted them in a WFTV report.

While OPEC+ reportedly plans to augment the market with an additional 2.2 million oil barrels daily by November, there's an underlying strategy to undercut oil prices and potentially penalize Iraq and Kazakhstan for not meeting production quotas. With this geopolitical maneuvering, dropping oil prices to $58.29 per barrel last Friday is a move to reclaim market share. The lowest reported price at a Florida gas station was at Dodge’s Store in Fort Walton Beach at $2.49 a gallon, a considerable markdown from the state average.
