The City of Folsom is hosting a free open house event to provide residents with information on wildfire readiness and emergency preparedness. Local and regional agencies will share resources to help families prepare for wildfires and other emergencies, according to the Folsom Police Department.
An open house is scheduled for June 3, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Rotary Clubhouse at Lew Howard Park, located at 7150 Baldwin Dam Road. The event is open to all ages and features interactive booths on topics such as creating a wildfire action plan, what to include in an emergency "Go Bag," and fire prevention techniques, as reported by the Folsom Police Department.
The Folsom Police Department will provide information on managing weeds, maintaining tree safety, and creating defensible space around homes. Attendees can learn about water conservation, the city’s goat-assisted weed abatement program, and insurance coverage related to natural disasters. The event will also include resources on family emergency preparedness and the Community Emergency Response Team, along with tools to stay informed through emergency alerts. “This family-friendly event is a great chance to meet your local emergency responders,” reports the Folsom city website.
