Lyndell "Lynn" Price, former co-owner of the Turkey Leg Hut, will remain in federal custody before his trial on arson charges. U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Dena Palermo said "the overwhelming evidence" in the case showed that releasing Price would not ensure the safety of the community, according to Click2Houston.
Price, 42, has been charged with three federal crimes related to the arson of Bar 5015, which was owned by a former business partner. Authorities discovered rifles and a flamethrower in Price’s home, which he is not permitted to possess as a convicted felon. He is also accused of setting fire to a stolen classic car in April 2020, as mentioned by Houston Chronicle. Investigators say phone calls link him to others involved in the bar fire. These charges also violate the terms of his supervised release after a previous prison sentence for income tax fraud.
Judge Palermo denied bond for Price, stating, "The court finds that there are no conditions or combination of conditions that will reasonably assure safety to the community such that it cannot safely release him on bond," as per Houston Chronicle. Court documents released on Monday cited Price’s past criminal history, including offenses committed while on probation or parole, as a factor in the decision. Price has pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is known in the community for his involvement with the Turkey Leg Hut. Click2Houston reported that they contacted Price’s attorney for comment but have not received a response.
