The City of Fort Collins is reaching out to its residents seeking their input on the future of water conservation. As part of the ongoing effort to shape the Fort Collins Utilities Water Efficiency Plan (WEP), the City has opened a public comment period, inviting community feedback on the draft of the plan. Fort Collins is no stranger to regional droughts and the looming challenges posed by climate change, making the development of a robust water strategy vital to the region's sustainability.
Citizens can access the draft WEP on the Fort Collins government website and share their opinions through June 23, which will be taken into account before the plan is finalized. "Thank you to the hundreds of people across Fort Collins who provided feedback on the draft plan,” Water Conservation Specialist Alice Conovitz said, according to the City of Fort Collins. “We hope our community will now take a look, let us know their thoughts, as this plan will guide our conservation work for years to come." Interestingly, while seeking community interaction, the city has put forth a collaborative approach, one that recognizes the collective stake held by residents in managing precious water resources.
The City has laid considerable emphasis on the value of community input, noting that public consultations were a key part of the process even before the draft plan was developed.
