The Fort Worth community sparkled with diversity and unity at the third annual Unified Dance, held on April 11 at Como Community Center. Organized by the Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department and the Fort Worth ISD, the disco-themed event welcomed over 400 participants, making it the most attended in its history. According to a City of Fort Worth report, attendees, including general education and special education students alongside their families, indulged in an evening filled with dancing, music, and various activities tailored to ensure an inclusive and overwhelming free environment.

The sensory-friendly dance, designed to be accessible for all, featured a deejay and yard games, with pizza and face painting adding to the festive ambience. Playing groovy disco music, the dance floor became a haven for laughter, connection, and pure happiness wherein no one, illuminated with twinkling lights, felt overstimulated or overwhelmed.

The success of the Unified Dance underscores Fort Worth’s commitment to inclusive recreation that meets all its residents' needs. As part of this commitment, the city offers the Dream Club adapted recreation program to create more opportunities similar to the Unified Dance.
