In response to a troubling uptick in fraud and scam cases, Fountain Hills has announced a partnership with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to hold an educational presentation for residents. The "Fraud and Scam Protection" event is slated for Thursday, June 26, 2025, and will feature experts from the MCSO Financial Crimes Unit as they seek to arm citizens with knowledge to safeguard against these crimes.

The surge in fraudulent incidents has hit Fountain Hills hard, with several residents falling victim to the sophisticated scams that particularly prey on seniors and vulnerable groups. During the upcoming session at the Fountain Hills Community Center, located at 13001 N La Montana Dr., the community will gain insight into the latest scam strategies, learn to spot warning signs, and learn how to protect sensitive information. The event is scheduled from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.

Mike Pelton, Community Relations Director for the Town of Fountain Hills, emphasized the importance of being informed. "Awareness is one of the most powerful tools we have to protect our community," Pelton stated in a press release hosted on the town's official website. The MCSO Financial Crimes Unit has noted a disturbing trend in identity theft, online scams, phishing attempts, and impostor frauds, driving the need for public education initiatives.

The event is open to all who wish to attend, and while prior registration isn't required, those interested can register for automatic event reminders through the Community Center or via the Town's Facebook page.
