Starting May 27, Franklin County drivers will need to reroute their journeys as the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) embarks on a four-month long closure of Route MM. According to MoDOT, the closure begins at 9 a.m. and is necessary for crews to work on two box culverts and execute a critical curve realignment under the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge.
The initial focus will be the two box culverts located just north of Purina Farms' main entrance, with each repair expected to span two weeks, after which, the MoDOT team plans to shift their efforts to the comprehensive three-month curve realignment project which will bring the total duration of the closure to four months, during this time Route MM will be closed off completely to all traffic, electronic message boards are being posted at key intersections to guide and inform commuters.
For travelers and visitors intending to reach Purina Farms, MoDOT advises an alternate route, suggesting taking Route 100 in Gray Summit and redirecting onto William Danforth Way to bypass the construction. Detour signs will be placed to support route changes amidst the construction period.
MoDOT is also deploying electronic message boards at intersections of Route MM, Route T, and Route 100, aiming to keep the public informed about the closures and detours in place during the entirety of the construction phase, all to ensure some semblance of normalcy for the local community and to mitigate traffic disturbances as much as possible.
