Groundbreaking has officially commenced on Heritage Park, a notable addition to Gilbert’s Heritage District, which is set to introduce new living spaces, eateries, retail options, and an urbane town square to the heart of downtown Gilbert. According to details released by the Town of Gilbert, the 10-acre mixed-use development is spearheaded by Crescent Communities and Creation, encompassing a full city block at the cross streets of Gilbert Road and Juniper Avenue.

The initial foray into this expansive project includes plans for close to 47,000 square feet of space set aside for retail shops and restaurants, with NOVEL Heritage Park housing 288 residential units; on top of which, the development will offer more than 300 surface parking spaces and a public square, complete with water features, mature landscaping, public art pieces, and pathways conducive to both walking and biking. As Creation's co-founder, David Sellers, told the Town of Gilbert, their concerted efforts reflect the determination to build an iconic entryway to Gilbert’s Heritage District, "one that enhances quality of life, celebrates local culture and offers an exceptional experience for both residents and visitors."

Flagship Restaurant Group has secured a sizeable footprint in Heritage Park, notably securing 14,000 square feet to inaugurate three of its dining establishments including Ghost Donkey, Palma, and Blue Sushi Sake Grill that will collectively shape the park's culinary scene, Meanwhile, conversations persist with more potential tenants to fill out the remaining retail and dining space—details on these are expected to be disclosed in due course. Looking ahead, Heritage Park's subsequent developments will feature a hotel with 125 rooms, further office spaces, and additional parking facilities.

Mayor Scott Anderson of Gilbert has hailed the project as a vital part of the town's ecosystem, speaking to how it will amplify the district's already-lively character, saying, "Heritage Park will be a signature piece of the Heritage District, offering a unique blend of dining, retail, and residential spaces that will further enrich the area's vibrant atmosphere" and it's posed it as a stepping stone for larger growth that is yet to come. The phased opening of Heritage Park is set, with the first establishments expected to welcome patrons in 2026, and NOVEL Heritage Park planning to begin housing residents by spring 2027, the construction of which is under the purview of LGE Design Build and retail leasing managed by Phoenix Commercial Advisors.
