
Texas' aerospace and aviation industry is poised to ascend to new heights with Governor Greg Abbott's latest appointment. Chris Broom, a seasoned industry veteran, has been selected to join the Aerospace and Aviation Advisory Committee, as announced by the Governor's office. According to the official press release, Broom's term is set to conclude on September 1, 2027. This committee plays a critical role not only in guiding the industry but also in bolstering Texas' economy through efforts to attract and maintain aerospace and aviation jobs and investments within the state.
Broom, hailing from Dallas, brings a wealth of experience to the table, currently serving as the vice president of Commercial Training Solutions for Boeing Global Services. His impressive background includes a 27-year stint at American Airlines, which culminated with him taking on the role of managing director of Flight and Training Administration. Despite his responsibilities, Broom has consistently sought to further enrich his community and engage in causes beyond the immediate scope of his professional career.
His dedication to service is apparent through his varied participations. Broom is a part of the USS Yorktown Association Board of Directors and is an executive sponsor for the North Texas chapter of the Boeing Veteran Engagement Team. He has not only served but led as a member, vice-president, and president of the Susan G. Komen – Dallas Board of Directors. His engagement also extends to education, represented through his past role on the St. Mark’s School of Texas Alumni Board of Directors. As for his academic credentials, Broom's foundation is built on a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma.
