On May 9th, 2025, Governor Greg Abbott made strategic appointments to the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board, positioning three individuals to shape the trajectory of real estate appraisal standards in the state. Among those appointed is Lubbock's Tony “Mark” Luna, Jr., a managing director with a business administration background rooted deeply in accounting. Clayton Ripley, hailing from Austin, brings to the table a diversified portfolio, including leadership roles in both aerial service and capital management firms. Lastly, the expertise of Dr. Stephanie L. Robinson aligns with the board's mission to fuse ethics and education, drawing from her extensive career in business technology consultancy, as per the Office of the Texas Governor.
The appointees are set to serve terms through the end of January 2031, carrying the responsibility to not just uphold but also to proactively advance the standards governing Texas's real estate appraisers. Luna, whose academic credentials include a business degree from Texas Tech University, has been tasked to lend his accounting acumen to the board's oversight. Ripley is expected to, seamlessly integrate his accounting prowess from a Baylor University education with his robust understanding of capital management. According to the Office of the Texas Governor's press release, his civic involvement spans from financial stewardship at the Texas Land Trust Council to serving his community as an usher at the All Saints Presbyterian Church.
Dr. Robinson's reappointment reflects her solid performance during her prior term and her alignment with the board's vision. As a decorated entrepreneur with a Ph.D. from the University of North Texas, her insights are anticipated to be instrumental in the board's enduring commitment to ethics and education. Her extensive service on boards, coupled with her role in workforce development initiatives, positions her as an essential voice on the panel.
All appointments are pending confirmation by the Senate, and if affirmed, these individuals will carry on the board's pledge to rigorously oversee the licensing of real estate appraisers across Texas. Their collective experiences and academic backgrounds are expected to synergistically blend to champion heightened standards within the industry.
