In a case that has swiftly moved through the courts, Henry Pious acknowledged his guilt in a brazen act of carjacking. The Shelby County District Attorney's Office posted online that Pious pled guilty in Criminal Court 8 on Monday, accepting a heavy sentence of 14 years behind bars with no chance of early release. The incident in question unfolded at a local gas station where the victim found himself staring down the barrel of a gun, forced to surrender his Infiniti.
The authority's narrative was chilling in its banality – two men, weapons brandished with casual menace, demanding the tangible proof of a person's mobility before making their swift getaway. The Shelby County District Attorney's Office shared, "The victim said two armed men approached him as he walked to his Infiniti. He threw his keys hoping they’d leave, but the suspects held him at gunpoint and drove off in his car." This ordeal, captured on surveillance, did not just cease after the victim was robbed; the assailants were later observed fleeing in his vehicle.
Video evidence became the key to unwinding this crime, as it showed the suspects arriving in a nondescript gray Audi, which would later dutifully tail the stolen car from the scene. The footage was a conduit, leading investigators to use the Audi's license plate to identify Pious and place him at the crime scene.
