Governor Greg Abbott announced that Aundrea Young has been appointed to the Advisory Council on Emergency Medical Services, a straightforward announcement despite the council’s important role. Young, a businesswoman from Houston, is stepping into a role where she'll help guide the state's EMS and trauma system until January 1, 2026.
Young's background is impressive, carrying quite the portfolio with a B.S. in Communications from Texas Southern University and an Executive MBA from the University of Houston. According to a statement from the Governor’s Office, outside of her academics, she also founded and presides over Competitive Choice, Inc. Serving on several committees and boards, she touts experience that ranges from executive partnerships to economic alliances, covering sufficient ground to suggest her as a fit for the emergency services oversight role. As a sponsor of the respected United Way Alexis de Tocqueville Society, Young demonstrates a commitment to social betterment, though how this will impact the emergency medical field is yet to be seen.
In a detail that speaks to her continual pursuit of knowledge, Young has honed her skills at the Harvard Business School's Owner/President Management Program and is currently a PhD candidate in Critical Infrastructure at Capitol Technology University.
