
It was a day of records and recognition at Houston High School as the Class of 2025 marked the culmination of their high school journey. Notably, they did so with a staggering $57 million scholarship offers, setting a new benchmark for future graduating classes.
Among the academic standouts, ROTC scholarships were bestowed upon Jakob Mosbruger and Colby Shelton, according to the report by the City of Germantown. The competitive QuestBridge program, known for connecting top-tier students with leading colleges, matched three Houston High seniors: Fatima Hernandez with Bowdoin College, Lauryn Bonds with the University of Pennsylvania, and Abigail Paz with Emory University. Setting their sights on high achievements, two students, Francis Anyanwu and Jason Le, were honored with nominations for the CTE Presidential Scholar Award.
Regarding scholarly recognition, Niyantha Kaushik and Christina Park earned nods for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program in General Academics. Adding to the community spirit, Bennett Braithwait, Wesley Lim, and Matthew McDonald were nominated as ACT Presidential Scholars, showcasing a blend of academic excellence and civic engagement. Lillian Wu, another Houston High academic star, joined the ranks as a Presidential Scholar Semifinalist, placing her among the nation's most outstanding students.
Moreover, nine seniors were announced as National Merit Semifinalists, and another set of nine were Commended Students. A testament to their excellence, eight prodigious minds grabbed the Tennessee Ned McWherter Scholarship while Jack Boccher gained the unique honor of acceptance into all three U.S. military service academies. As these students prepare for future endeavors, they are encouraged to stay connected with their alma mater through registering as official alumni, an invitation that extends to all graduates.
Finally, a special acknowledgment was reserved for Abigail Paz, who was named a Gates Scholar, becoming one among an elite group of 750 students nationwide bestowed with this full-cost collegiate scholarship. The City of Germantown closed its announcement by congratulating the graduates on their collective triumph and the heritage they've left for future generations to aspire to. Detailing such widespread success, Houston High's Class of 2025 is indeed one for the records.
