As temperatures rise across the Houston area, Heights High School is facing an air conditioning failure. The Houston Independent School District (HISD) has confirmed that technicians are working to resolve the issue, as weather forecasts predict highs in the mid-90s and heat indices approaching 100 degrees in some areas.
Aerial footage captured today showed students outside the building, seemingly leaving the sweltering classrooms. While the exact reason for their relocation remains unclear, it appears to be a response to the unusually high temperatures inside the school, according to KHOU 11 News.
In an effort to provide some relief, HISD has stated, "District staff are monitoring temperature readings." Additionally, plans are in place to deploy spot coolers, and if necessary, bring in an emergency vendor for more extensive repairs, according to reports from Click2Houston. Details regarding instructional disruptions or health issues resulting from the intense heat have not been disclosed.
Moreover, KHOU 11 News continues to closely watch the events unfolding at the campus, with updates expected as more information arises.
