Las Vegas roads witnessed a harrowing incident in the early hours of May 5th as a three-vehicle collision resulted in multiple injuries. At around 1:24 a.m., an Infiniti Q60S crashed into a Nissan Sentra, which was thrust forward into a Mazda CX5 that was also stopped at the intersection of East Sahara Avenue and South McLeod Street; the initial collision propelled the damaged vehicles into the intersection just as the traffic lights held others at bay, according to a detailed report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Witnesses and evidence on the scene indicate the driver of the Infiniti, identified as 24-year-old Diego Herrera-Herrera, failed to decrease speed, leading to the Infiniti ramming the rear of the Sentra pushing the car into the Mazda in front, in a chain of events that sent the occupants to Sunrise Hospital for urgent care with Herrera-Herrera suffering life-threatening injuries and remaining in the ICU, as reported by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The crash had serious consequences for the people in the Nissan Sentra. Veronica Salazar, 42, and Adriana Preciado, 61, were badly hurt, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police DEpartment. Meanwhile, Laura Gonzalez-Munoz, the 35-year-old driver of the Mazda, had only minor injuries. Everyone involved was from Las Vegas—a city used to the sight of emergency lights, but still deeply affected each time a crash like this happens.
