In a candid reminder to the public, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office noted, "No matter how much you like a piece of jewelry, you still have to pay for it!" They also expressed a desire to swiftly and personally remind the suspect of this retail fundamental. The suspect's preference for gold was acknowledged, but authorities were keen to introduce him to an alternative – a pair of silver bracelets – implying handcuffs.
