Jefferson County's dedication to streamlining and securing the voting process has not gone unnoticed. The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) recently awarded its 2024 Clearinghouse Award, “Clearie,” to the Jefferson County Clerk & Recorder’s Office for their innovations in election administration. Jeffco Elections was recognized for a voter signature update project that assists voters, particularly those voting for the first time, in adding more signature samples to their voting files. This initiative significantly improves the ballot acceptance rate by enabling election workers to more easily verify signature matches, according to Jefferson County.
To keep up with ever-evolving voting needs, the Jefferson County Clerk & Recorder’s Office has developed a ballot box redesign project, which has garnered an honorable mention. The redesigned ballot boxes boast improved readability, enhanced security, and increased accessibility, along with a modern aesthetic. However, the team may want to avoid widely spreading the word on the effectiveness of the redesigned boxes, as the office received just an honorable mention.

And their pride is well-earned, for recognition by the EAC is no small feat; it signifies that a team's efforts have tangibly advanced the field of election administration, setting a high standard for others to follow.
