A 34-year-old Kirkland, Washington man, Daniel Jose Lile, is facing federal charges for the possession of images of child sexual abuse, as per an announcement from Acting U.S. Attorney Teal Luthy Miller. Previously convicted for child sexual abuse in 2019, Lile was apprehended by Department of Corrections Officers on April 16 for possessing unapproved electronic devices while on community supervision. According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office, he is now detained at the Federal Detention Center (FDC) at SeaTac.
Following a search warrant served last Monday at the residence shared with Lile's girlfriend, law enforcement officials found multiple devices prohibited by his supervision terms. According to the federal complaint, two external hard drives, a laptop, and a cellphone were included in this discovery. Arrested for having unauthorized electronics, Lile remains under scrutiny as forensic analysis of his electronics reveals harrowing details. It has surfaced, with one of the external hard drives allegedly containing over 130,000 files of child sexual abuse, with one folder alone housing more than fifty videos and picture files of infants and toddlers being sexually abused.
The arrest was timely, influenced by an ongoing investigation following a report from Google to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) about Lile uploading images of child sexual abuse. This case is a testament to the cooperative efforts between Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Washington State Department of Corrections, and the Kirkland Police Department in addressing such crimes.
