A confrontation in South Los Angeles on Saturday morning resulted in LAPD officers shooting a man reported to be involved in domestic violence, police say. The incident, occurring in the 900 block of E. 118th Drive, began with a call of domestic violence and escalated when police arrived on site.
At around 9:00 a.m., the police department responded to a report that a male suspect, potentially suicidal, was armed with a gun. In a post on X, the LAPD's Public Information Officer noted that the suspect was taken into custody after being injured by officers' gunfire, with no other injuries reported to the community or officers.

According to a KTLA report, details surrounding the initiation of the police shooting remain unclear, particularly whether the man fired his weapon or if he aimed it at officers before being shot. Following the incident, the man was taken to a local hospital and remains in stable condition, expected to survive his injuries.
A family member provided further elaboration on the circumstances leading up to the shooting. An ABC7 report included a statement from the suspect's cousin, claiming the suspect had been assaulting his girlfriend with a gun when police arrived. The officers then opened fire, striking the man multiple times. Neither the suspect's mother nor his girlfriend was harmed.
Investigations by the LAPD's Force Investigation Division (FID) are ongoing, and more information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
