The Southern Nevada Health District is offering free vaccines and health services to the public. The Adult Immunization Outreach Event provides these services at no cost. The event takes place as vaccine-preventable diseases continue to cause an estimated 50,000 deaths each year among adults nationwide, according to KTNV.
The Southern Nevada Health District is hosting an event on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fremont Public Health Center on East Fremont Street. The event offers immunizations, free blood pressure checks, STD screenings, harm reduction resources, and other health services, as reported by Southern Nevada Health District.
The Southern Nevada Health District advises adults to stay current on vaccines for illnesses such as flu, hepatitis, varicella, human papillomavirus, measles-mumps-rubella, meningococcal disease, pneumonia, shingles, and tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis. Some vaccines require booster shots or follow specific schedules. Vaccines are available at the outreach event, local health providers, and pharmacies, and are often covered by insurance or offered at reduced or no cost. Individuals are encouraged to bring their immunization records to the event, but records are not required to receive vaccines.
