In partnership with Vivid Vita Events, the City of Lewisville is set to host the much-awaited Fiesta Charra on May 25 from 4 pm to a starlit wrap-up at 10:30 pm. This cultural extravaganza pledges to pack a punch with a slew of performances and activities that celebrate the zest and vivacity of Mexican traditions.

One of the event's highlights is the traditional Charreada, unlike the American rodeo, this sport has its roots deep in the heritage of Mexico, and it promises to be a spectacular show. According to the City of Lewisville's official announcement, the family-friendly affair will throw in a kaleidoscope of attractions, including Ballet Folklorico, a riveting Escaramuza Charra, and if you thought mutton bustin was purely a Texan thing, think again. Plus, a horse dancing show that's bound to get hooves tapping and audiences clapping. In case your taste buds are feeling left out, there's a jalapeno-eating contest, sponsored by Chisos Boots, and the spicy victor scores a gift certificate for some fresh kicks.

A shebang of musical acts awaits too, with 'Selena Forever' headlining, alongside a cadre of auditory delights like Javier Aguilar, Dany Yori and his Rezzios, and Toty and Andy setting the mood. Cultural performances by the Guadalupe Aztec Dancers and the Santa Monica Folkloric Dance Group will effortlessly transport attendees to a world of heritage and pride. And guess what? No need to reach for your wallet at the gates, because stepping into this cultural fiesta will cost you nada.

Parking at the rodeo is a ten-dollar affair – cash only, mind. Alternatives for your four-wheeled friends include street parking, the haven of North Point Church on Mill Street, and good old Lewisville City Hall. From the east parking lot of the City Hall, a free shuttle service will be available from 3 pm until 11 pm. But don't think about bringing your booze or a picnic basket, as the event has a strict no outside food or drink policy, with an exception for the little tykes or special dietary needs. And, while we're at it, leave the glass containers, wheels (excluding cars, obviously), and any clothing that might ruffle feathers at home.
