
A violent confrontation in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood left a man with serious injuries. Yesterday afternoon, a 57-year-old man was stabbed after he reportedly refused to hand over his food to a group of individuals; this incident occured near Blanchard Street and 2nd Avenue, as Seattle Police Department officers arrived on the scene around 4:43 p.m., where they discovered the victim with a stab wound to the upper chest, according to SPD Blotter.
Initial aid to the man was provided by the officers, and he was subsequently transported to Harborview Medical Center by Seattle Fire Department medics, where he is said to be in serious condition reports indicate that the man had just got off a bus and was carrying food, at which point he was accosted by several people who demanded he relinquish it after refusing, one suspect reportedly deployed pepper spray against him and demanded the food again before proceeding to stab him, the suspects then fled the scene, leaving the man wounded.
Detectives with the Homicide and Assault Unit of the Seattle Police Department are now investigating the stabbing, as of now, no arrests have been made in relation to the incident, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000, hoping that witnesses or others with knowledge of the crime can assist in the apprehension and prosecution of those responsible.
