The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre is kicking off summer 2025 by taking us back to the fabulous '50s with its production of the rock ‘n’ roll classic, GREASE, running from next Friday through June 22. Josh Hudson and Anna Wooley take the lead as Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski, leading a lineup packed with talent including Branden Hembree as Kenickie and Christie Lamb as Betty Rizzo, according to the City of Marietta's release.
The Strand's rendition of GREASE is painted with more than just the hues of high school romance and poodle skirts, it's a full-on celebration of an era replete with slicked-back hair and high-octane dance moves and jammed with iconic tunes that are sure to get the audiences nodding in unison if not shimmying straight out of their seats, all of this under the direction of Shane DeLancey, with Zac Phelps doing the choreography, Kevin Sanders leading the music, and Julian Martin heading up the technical direction. Manda Costoulas, Operations Director at The Strand, claimed, "This cast and creative team are absolutely electric," and that, "They’re bringing so much talent, energy, and heart to the stage," with the assurance that GREASE "is already such a crowd favorite, and this production is going to be something really special," as per the City of Marietta's release.
Tickets for the musical went on sale to what anticipated to be a warm reception by those eager to indulge in some '50s nostalgia. Interested parties can snag their tickets online via the theater's website or directly at the Strand Theatre Box Office, and they're going quick, so waiting isn't recommended.
Not resting on the laurels of rock ‘n’ roll alone, The Strand’s 2025 theatrical season also includes productions ranging from Jukebox Giants: Motown & More! in July and Bright Star in September, to Sanders Family Christmas and A Christmas Tradition later in the year and what's more, they come hot on the heels of The Last Five Years which graced the stage back in March. With a historic setting nestled in the heart of downtown Marietta Square, The Strand Theatre remains a beacon for performing arts and cultural events dedicated both to the entertainment of diverse audiences and the promotion of economic vitality within Marietta and Cobb County.
