Suzette Rhee Nedrich has been appointed as director of Mecklenburg County’s Public Information Department, following her service as a public information officer since 2022. The department manages communication efforts to inform residents about county operations and promote transparency and public engagement.

According to the Mecklenburg County release, Nedrich has worked in various roles within the county and contributed to special projects and interdepartmental collaborations since joining Mecklenburg County three years ago. Her background includes experience as a local television reporter and anchor in North Carolina and Virginia. She has served as an executive producer in public television, anchored Charlotte’s GOV Channel, and hosted the What’s Trending segments on Meck TV. Her work in journalism has earned multiple honors, including Television Reporter of the Year from the Virginia Associated Press, several RTNDA awards, and an Emmy for a special on gun violence titled Generation Under Fire. Nedrich has also worked in corporate communications and provided media training for leaders in public and nonprofit sectors.

“Our role is to share critical information with the residents of Mecklenburg County, foster community engagement, and ensure those residents know what they’re getting for their tax dollars,” Nedrich said in the same release. “We do that by telling the big and small stories, working with the County’s more than 6,000 employees, and serving our many community partners transparently and responsively.”

Nedrich moved to the U.S. from Seoul, South Korea, at age nine and grew up in Fairfax County, Virginia. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications with a focus on Journalism from Radford University.
