Memphis' own Lausanne Collegiate School is heading east, way east. In a bold move towards international expansion, the school will open a new branch in Incheon, South Korea, in the fall of 2025. This cross-continental extension is planned to forge significant opportunities for student exchanges and further programs between the two countries. "This is not just a partner school," said Stuart McCathie, Headmaster of Lausanne Collegiate School, in a statement detailed by Action News 5. "This is Lausanne Collegiate School. Our vision, academic standards, and commitment to character development and global education are fully alive and thriving in Korea."
According to a release from the school, Lausanne's Incheon campus will sit within the Incheon Global Campus (IGC), sharing space with several American and international universities. As detailed by Local Memphis, this inclusion in IGC allows the school to fully administer graduation assessments and educational management from its Memphis headquarters. Graduates from Lausanne Collegiate—Incheon will receive the same degree as those attending the main campus, ensuring the educational quality is not simply replicated but continued across the seas.
Lausanne's Memphis campus is well-regarded for its dynamic programming and robust offerings in STEM, arts, sports, and leadership. These hallmarks will be transported and implemented into the Incheon curriculum, ensuring a consistent, quality education for its students regardless of location. Lausanne Collegiate - Incheon will offer "the same dynamic programming in STEM innovation, visual and performing arts, athletics, and global leadership that are hallmarks of the Memphis experience," McCathie emphasized in a quote to Action News 5.
With one-third of its student body already composed of international students from more than 75 countries, Lausanne–Incheon's launch further bolsters Lausanne's commitment to global citizenship and education. The initiative will also enable students to deeply immerse themselves in cross-cultural experiences, potentially spending a semester or more in Memphis and enjoying collaborative summer programs.
