Memphis authorities are searching for a suspect linked to a substantial theft from DHL Express, as the Memphis Police Department reports a man employing a false identity to swipe an Apple product shipment valued at over $100,000. The incident occurred approximately two weeks ago at the DHL Express facility located at 3560 Air Center Cove, with police emphasizing the suspect's usage of a bogus name and tracking number to finagle goods, before departing in a black Ford Explorer, Action News 5 disclosed.
This case popped onto the radar on May 5, around 4:18 PM, when the unknown individual waltzed into DHL, fed the staff a fictitious name, and left with the shipment which, as FOX13 Memphis reported, then slipped away behind the wheel of a black Ford Explorer, launching an ongoing investigation by Memphis Police Department. The situation took an added twist with the revelation that the stolen shipment consisted of 32 Apple Mac Mini devices, individually priced at $3,254, accumulating to a retail value of $104,128, destined for an IT company, as per the complaint; unfortunately, these details came to light consequent to DHL's security manager ringing up about a suspected fraud on an Apple shipment, according to WREG.
The Memphis Police Department's description feeds us an image of the alleged perpetrator as a man with a medium build, short black hair, and a beard, dressed in a black T-shirt and khaki pants. This perpetuates the call for any individuals with nuggets of wisdom regarding the case to make their voices heard through CrimeStoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
