Five men from Miami are facing charges in connection with a 2023 hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a young man from Sarasota. According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, the group was involved in a catalytic converter theft operation that ended in a fatal crash during their attempted escape.
The suspects are identified as Samuel Rosemond, Antonio Carbonell, Allen Hunt, Michael Trillo, and Edwin Norris. Authorities say Norris was driving the vehicle involved in the crash.
Rosemond, Carbonell, Hunt, and Trillo have been charged with Second Degree Felony Murder, multiple counts of Burglary of an Unoccupied Structure, and Grand Theft. Norris faces charges of Felony Murder, Hit-and-Run, and 20 counts of Traveling to Commit a Burglary.
The suspects are accused of stealing 22 catalytic converters, valued at approximately $94,000, from two Sarasota businesses—AGW and Arrow Environmental Services. While fleeing law enforcement in a dark-colored Audi, the suspects allegedly struck and killed 21-year-old motorcyclist Leonardo Adams before leaving the scene.
The abandoned Audi was later found on I-75 near Fruitville Road. Investigators identified Norris as the driver, with Hunt, Trillo, and Rosemond as passengers. Carbonell was reportedly seen driving a separate vehicle.
Carbonell, Norris, and Rosemond are being held without bond. Hunt is awaiting extradition from Miami, and Trillo is currently being held on an Attempted Murder charge in a separate 2023 case in Miami-Dade County and will be extradited afterward. The case remains an ongoing investigation.
