Michigan State is launching a new grant application process to address gun violence. Starting on June 2, the Michigan State Police Grants and Community Services Division will accept applications for the Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program - Phase Four. These grants aim to support state, local, and tribal efforts to reduce crime, with a focus on gun violence in communities, according to the Michigan State Police.
The upcoming grant application process offers government units the chance to work with community-based organizations on violence intervention programs. The funding will focus on addressing gun violence while also including educational components to promote long-term awareness and prevention. These grants are part of a broader effort by the Justice Department to address violence in cities and neighborhoods, as reported by the Michigan State Police.
The Michigan State Police has announced important dates for Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program Phase Four. A preparatory webinar will take place on May 28. The application window opens on June 2, and closes at 12 p.m. EST on July 15. The funding period for selected applications will run from October 1, and end on March 31, 2027. All application materials and documents are available on the Michigan State Police's Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program website.
