If you're planning to navigate through New Providence Road come the end of May, you might want to reconsider your route. According to a recent announcement from the City of Milton, New Providence Road is set to close for a two-day stretch next Thursday and Friday due to essential water services work by the Fulton County Water Services crew.
The closure will facilitate repairs that are necessary under and along the road. These repairs will reportedly affect water service to only a handful of homes – precisely four. The residents in these houses are expected to receive direct communication from the County regarding the impending service disruption. However, as repair work is underway, all drivers in the vicinity will face the inconvenience of detours and rerouting.
The area that will see the roadblocks is primarily centered around Mill Springs Academy, sitting at 13660 New Providence Road. Depending on which direction you're coming from, the detours will divert southbound traffic towards Dorris Road onto Birmingham Highway, or potentially lead all the way down to State Route 140/Arnold Mill Road. Conversely, heading north, the road will bring travelers to the Birmingham Highway roundabout, providing alternative directions for those seeking to bypass the enclosure.
Milton officials have not shied away from reminding the public that "weather and other factors could impact the timeline" of the repair project. With the unpredictable nature of such undertakings, they've extended thanks in anticipation of the community's "understanding and patience" through any potential delays or extensions to the projected schedule, as per the City of Milton.
