The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation will continue delivering modular homes for wildfire victims as part of ongoing relief efforts with Federal Emergency Management Agency. The homes are expected to arrive in Lahaina, which was impacted by the fires, according to the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation.

The hauling of modular homes will begin on Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with trucks transporting the units from Kahului Harbor to a staging site. Traffic on Kaʻahumanu Avenue (Route 32) and Kahului Beach Road (Route 3400) may be affected. From May 12 to May 16, hauling will take place at night, between 9 p.m. and 11:59 p.m., along Hāna Highway (Route 36) and Kūihelani Highway (Route 380), ending at Leialiʻi Parkway near the Lahaina Civic Center. Delays are possible due to the size of the units, as reported by the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation.

The trucks will travel south on Kahului Beach Road, turn east on Kaʻahumanu Avenue, and then head west on Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) toward Lahaina. Escorts and traffic control will be in place. Hawai‘i Department of Transportation will provide updates on hauling schedules through their social media and blog. This effort is part of recovery work to support wildfire survivors, with Federal Emergency Management Agency and Hawai‘i Department of Transportation collaborating to provide assistance. Modular homes are nearing completion for those affected by the disaster.
