Tonight, the Met Gala, one of fashion’s major annual events, is set to feature the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the event will focus on menswear and Black dandyism, drawing from Monica L. Miller’s Slaves to Fashion to examine the historical impact of Black style, particularly in men’s fashion. According to BBC News, the red carpet is expected to feature a range of tailored ensembles.
Red carpet arrivals for the Met Gala are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. ET. While the carpet—whose color varies each year—will see attendees arriving throughout the evening, initial sightings are often made outside The Mark Hotel, located four blocks from the venue, where members of the public and media typically gather. Co-chairs for the event include Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour of Vogue, as reported in CBS News New York.
The event is closed to the general public, with individual seats priced at $75,000 and tables starting at $350,000, funds that support the museum's Costume Institute. The indoor portion of the evening—featuring dinner and performances for invited guests—remains private. According to CBS News New York, red carpet coverage is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
In terms of post-event attention, celebrities such as Zendaya have previously drawn notice by changing outfits mid-evening, making a second entrance that generates significant discussion and activity on social media. While the star-studded host committee includes Spike Lee, Simone Biles, and Usher who told BBC News, “the theme this year is not only timely," he added, "but also speaks to our rich culture that should always be widely celebrated." Across various online platforms—including Vogue's YouTube channel and E! Online for U.S. viewers—coverage of arrivals at the exclusive event will be accessible to the public, including those watching from home.
Attendance at the event is by invitation only; however, the fashion presentations and ongoing discussion around Black cultural influence in fashion are available to the public through livestreams and live coverage. The 2025 Met Gala is expected to present these themes to a wider audience through its broadcast and media presence.
