Seeking an immersive outdoor experience without the usual requisite for hiking boots and trail mix? The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), in partnership with the Ohio Arts Council, has rolled out an audio tour that might just fit the bill. Announced recently, the Strouds Run State Park 'Homing' audio tour is looking to marry technology with the tranquil sounds of nature, creating what they hope is a uniquely grounding and educational venture.
Designed by the auditory artists Katherine G. Moore and Kathryn Nusa Logan, 'Homing' guides visitors along a scenic route through the park, with stops including the Bull Dog Shelter House, the Blackhaw Trail, and the beach. Introducing a modern twist, each of these stops is equipped with a QR code, allowing smartphones to unlock site-specific auditory delights, all available on popular streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
To kick off this audible adventure, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources is hosting a community group tour on Tuesday, June 3 at 5:30 p.m., starting at the Bulldog Shelter House.
