Oklahoma City is gearing up for Memorial Day, and, the city has announced its holiday schedule for the upcoming weekend. According to an article recently published by okc.gov, there will be several changes to city services on Monday, May 26. There will be no trash or recycling pickup; residents will have to wait until Wednesday, May 28 for the make-up collection day. However, the bulky waste pickup schedule remains unchanged.

For those relying on public transportation, there's good news as EMBARK is offering free fares across its networks. The OKC Streetcar will run on a regular schedule, while buses and OKC PLUS will follow a weekend schedule. The RAPID transit service will operate with a 30-minute frequency from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., but, customer service centers for transit will be closed, bar the 235-PLUS Call Center, which will remain open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. These adjustments provide an added convenience for residents and visitors during the holiday.

Municipal facilities like City offices, the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center, and Animal Welfare will be closed in observance of Memorial Day. The same applies to the Municipal Court; however, payment of fines can still be processed online at okc.gov, where guidelines for posting bonds over the holiday weekend are also detailed. For those looking to enjoy the outdoors, all city parks will remain accessible from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.

OKC residents planning to visit any recreation centers, including aquatic centers, community centers, gyms, and senior centers should make alternative plans as these amenities will be closed during the holiday. But, nature lovers will be pleased to know that the outdoor grounds of the Will Rogers Gardens Exhibition Center and Ed Lycan Conservatory will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., along with Martin Park Nature Center.
