The Oklahoma Senate recently honored a group of high school students for their dual academic achievements. Sen. Michael Brooks and Rep. Alonso-Sandoval recognized graduates from Santa Fe South Pathways Middle College, where students have the unique opportunity to not only complete high school but also to significantly progress in their college education, as reported by the Oklahoma Senate.
According to an announcement by the Oklahoma Senate, the 2025 senior class comprised of 73 students, has collectively earned over 3,000 college credit hours. This achievement is notable as 53 of these students managed to fully earn their associate degrees while finishing high school. "These students have gotten a tremendous jump start on building a bright future for themselves through Santa Fe South Pathways Middle College," Sen. Brooks told the Oklahoma Senate. He emphasized the combined efforts of students, families, educators, and administrators in reaching this accomplishment.
Apart from academic credits, the graduates also display a diversity of achievements. They include an Oklahoma Academic All-State recipient, a solo and ensemble superior award winner from the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association, a State Piano Performance winner from the Oklahoma Music Teachers Association, National Honor Society members, and Phi Theta Kappa honor society affiliates. Moreover, the class has dedicated 9,818 hours to community service, demonstrating a commitment to civic engagement beyond the classroom, as per the Oklahoma Senate.
Rep. Alonso-Sandoval, an alum of Santa Fe South, shared a personal connection to the success of the program's students. "As a graduate of Santa Fe South, I take immense pride in witnessing the achievements of students from the SFS Pathways program,” Alonso-Sandoval stated. He praised the program for its leadership role in the state's educational landscape and its commitment to ensuring students are provided with the opportunities necessary to achieve their dreams, as stated by the Oklahoma Senate.
These recognitions by the Oklahoma Senate serve not only as a testament to the individual efforts of these young scholars but also as a beacon, showcasing the potential of educational models like Santa Fe South Pathways Middle College to fundamentally enhance and accelerate the traditional high school experience.
