
Oklahoma State Senator George Burns recently recognized a young agricultural advocate and public speaker, Jalyn Lundry, for her accomplishments in the realm of agricultural education. At a Senate gathering, Burns honored Lundry, applauding her prowess in the Prepared Public Speaking Contest of the Oklahoma Future Farmers of America (FFA), reported by the Oklahoma Senate's news release. Lundry, an 8th-grade student from Haworth Public Schools, secured the State Champion title, showcasing her grip on agriculture and her vision for its future.
Her winning speech wasn't the only highlight of her FFA career to date; Lundry has also showcased her versatile communication skills, earning 5th place in the FFA Opportunities Division for 8th and 9th graders. Senator Burns pointed to her achievements as indicators of a bright future in the sphere of agriculture. "Jalyn Lundry is a shining example of the next generation of Oklahoma agricultural leaders and I applaud her success," Burns said in a statement on Oklahoma Senate. "Jalyn’s achievements speak volumes about her work ethic, intelligence and passion for agriculture. It was an honor to recognize her on the Senate floor and celebrate her bright future."
Beyond public speaking, Lundry has proven herself in the field of environmental science, becoming the State Champion in the Agriscience Fair's Environmental Services/Natural Resource Systems Division 1. Her prowess extends further into FFA activities, with laurels including 3rd Place in State FFA Proficiency in Specialty Animal Production and third again in the FFA Auctioneering Career Development Event.
