An early morning blaze at a West Phoenix Motel 6 sent one person to the hospital yesterday, with fire crews responding to the emergency around 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of 51st Avenue and McDowell Road. As per FOX 10 Phoenix, the Phoenix Fire Department found smoke pouring from a third-floor unit and took immediate action to mitigate the fire. "Crews arrived and found smoke coming from a third floor unit. Firefighters quickly extended hose lines and attack the flames," said Phoenix Fire Capt. Todd Keller.
The quick response involved firefighters extending hose lines to assail the flames and the deployment of a ladder company to combat the fire from an elevated position. Capt. Keller highlighted the intensity of the situation: "Due to the potential of the fire command balanced the assignment to a first alarm." In total, three units were impacted by the fire. The individual hospitalized was described as stable by the fire department, although specifics of their injuries were not disclosed, according to information obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix.
The Phoenix Fire Investigations Task Force is investigating the cause of the motel fire to determine what happened and prevent future incidents, as reported by 12News. Updates on their progress have not been released.
