Portland residents might want to keep their umbrellas close at hand with a fickle forecast for the week ahead. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), there's a 50 percent chance of showers overnight, with temperatures holding steady around 49 degrees and light south-southwest winds making for a mild but potentially wet evening. The weather outlook includes intermittent showers with brief glimpses of sun as the week progresses.
The skies are expected to clear slightly by Wednesday afternoon, potentially reaching a pleasant high of 65 after a 30 percent chance of morning showers. Encouragingly, the wind is set to change from south-southwest to a north-northwest direction later in the day. However, the respite may be brief as increasing clouds on Wednesday night will usher in more chances of showers forecasted by NWS for the following days, with a 20 percent probability extending into Thursday and Friday's forecast.
A slightly more significant change is anticipated for Friday evening when the shower likelihood jumps to 60 percent. The pattern of unsettled weather appears to be gearing up for a stormy Saturday with potential thunderstorms on the docket, amidst highs around 64 and continuing chances for precipitation into the early part of next week.
Temperatures are destined to hover consistently in the mid-60s, with overnight lows near the upper 40s to low 50s, indicative of an uncertain spring. As Sunday rolls around, Portland could see a slight chance of showers amid partly sunny conditions, giving way to a modest forecasted increase to near 68 degrees by next Tuesday.
