In an unexpected twist for a community where they are generally seen as protectors, the chief and two firefighters of the Ramer Fire Department have been arrested on arson charges. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has pinned multiple fires on these individuals after an intensive probe into activities plaguing the Ramer area. According to Action News 5, investigators were called to the scene on March 13 to investigate fires targeting abandoned buildings and grass lands.

With support from an the Selmer Fire Department, TBI officials collected evidence suggesting that elaborate schemes were not just the work of random arsonists, but rather orchestrated by those, duty-bound to serve and protect. As reported by Local Memphis, Gabriel Vandiver, one of the accused firefighters, was charged with one count each of arson and vandalism. Trevor Williams, his colleague, faced two counts of each charge. Both were released after meeting the conditions of their respective bail arrangements.

Meanwhile, the Ramer Fire Department's Jacob King, ensnared in the law's grip on Friday, has faced two counts of facilitation to commit arson and conspiracy to commit arson. FOX13 Memphis notes that his bond will be determined at his next court appearance.

Authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information related to the case or other potential arson instances by calling the Tennessee Arson Hotline directly.
