In a move that underscores the ongoing issues of arms manufacturing in residential areas, the Sonoma Sheriff's Narcotics Unit announced the arrest of Anthony Aflague, a 36-year-old resident of Rohnert Park. Aflague, linked to a narcotics investigation earlier in March, now faces a swath of new charges. According to a Facebook post from the Sonoma Sheriff's Office, detectives found an illicit cache of firearms, firearm parts, and evidence of manufacturing during a warranted search at Aflague's residence on Kristina Place.
The array of weapons discovered included three non-serialized AR-15-style short-barreled rifles, which fall under the category of assault weapons. Apart from these, narcotics and drug paraphernalia were also found, hinting at a combined trade of illegal substances and firearms. Aflague went down on charges that include possession and manufacturing of assault weapons, possession of short-barreled rifles, and being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, among others. The Sonoma Sheriff's Office emphasized its dedication to the community's safety, stating, "The safety of our community is not just a top priority but a commitment that we, the Sheriff's Office, take seriously."
Setting his bail at $50,000, the authorities facilitated his booking into Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility.
