Residents and visitors of the Rowan Community Center, take note: There are big changes coming to your daily commute through the area. As of June 1, the entrance at the Board of Elections will be officially closed due to the impending Health Department construction, which will not conclude until 2026. According to an announcement by the Rowan County officials on their website, the new designated main entrance will be relocated to the previous site of the fountain at the round-a-bout near where the flagpoles stand.
For those concerned about navigating the construction zone, a RCC Construction Zone Map (PDF) has been made available, illustrating the alternative routes for entrance. Officials have assured that this map, along with clear signs indicating the closure, will be "posted at all Rowan Community Center doors and on the A-frames along the concourse." They seem to understand the inevitable confusion that comes with construction zones and are attempting to make the transition as smooth as possible, as per Rowan County.
Additionally, there will be an amendment to the current emergency exit plans. An emergency exit will be added in Unit Q, situated next to the Board of Elections training room. Once completed, the exit will be clearly marked and the gate will be opened to provide access. These changes come as part of a broader effort to ensure safety and accessibility in the midst of the ongoing construction work.
Rowan County officials are encouraging individuals with any concerns or questions to reach out for clarification. The construction and the changes it brings, doubtless, will cause some disruption. However, with careful planning and clear communication, they hope to reduce any inconvenience to those who use the community center regularly.
