The City of Sacramento has expanded its preferred plant list to include nearly 830 drought-tolerant options. This update is part of the city's ongoing water conservation efforts, according to the City of Sacramento.

Sacramento has added over 250 drought-tolerant plants to its approved list and launched a new dashboard to help users filter plants by type and water needs. These plants are pre-approved for the City’s grass conversion rebate program, which requires at least 60% of the area to be covered by low or very low water-use plants once mature. Homeowners may receive up to $3,000 in rebates, and businesses may qualify for up to $50,000 for larger projects, as reported by the City of Sacramento.

Sacramento has expanded its plant rebate program to include more drought-tolerant landscaping options. Granger from the Sacramento City Express said, "California native plants saw one of the biggest increases on the list, growing from 180 to more than 300 options." The number of preferred trees and ornamental grasses has also more than doubled, as stated by the City of Sacramento.
