"Beyond the Alleyways: The Dixieanne Story" will premiere on Thursday at The Rink Studios in North Sacramento. The short film documents the effort to transform five alleyways in the Dixieanne neighborhood into active community spaces, according to the City of Sacramento.

A free community screening will be held in partnership with the Del Paso Boulevard Partnership and PAVERART. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the 20-minute film will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a panel discussion with project stakeholders. The film features a local project that combines public art, green landscaping, and urban renewal, led by residents, artists, and city officials. It is part of the Dixieanne Neighborhood Clean & Green Alleys initiative, which includes infrastructure improvements such as custom paving, tree planting, permeable surfaces for stormwater management, and decorative bollards and fencing. “This film captures more than just a beautification project,” said Fedolia “Sparky” Harris, principal planner with the City’s Department of Public Works and project manager, as reported by the City of Sacramento.

Interested community members are encouraged to RSVP for the event on Thursday. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from panelists including Harris, Mark Olivito from PAVERART, Ronnie Shaw of the Old North Sacramento Community Association, Ten Blair, Program Artist and Founder of Never Board, and moderator Isaac Gonzalez, Vice Chair of the Sacramento Active Transportation Commission. "We're proud to shine a light on this model of neighborhood transformation," Harris said. More information about the project is available on the City of Sacramento’s website.
