The City of Sammamish is making strides to address critical community needs through its Human Services program, which has partnered with 44 nonprofits to operate 66 different programs. These programs, according to a recent post by the City of Sammamish, served over 12,000 Sammamish residents in 2024. Ranging from senior services to legal assistance, the initiatives are designed to support and enhance the lives of the community's most vulnerable.
One key partnership is with CrossPath Counseling, which has been actively providing tailored counseling services to the Sammamish community since 2008. With the City of Sammamish's support, CrossPath Counseling has been able to help a great number of children, youth, and families. They have worked hard to ensure that each one can easily access the help required to navigate life's various hurdles from their base at Town Center’s Lower Commons Park, as per the City of Sammamish.
The invaluable work of the Human Services Commission, composed of resident volunteers, underpins the program. These volunteers dedicate their time to liaising with local nonprofits, assessing the needs within the community, and reviewing applications for grant funding. Their recommendations are a guiding force for the Sammamish City Council in making informed decisions to aid residents effectively.
The Senior Services Program at Beaver Lake Lodge, a direct result of a partnership with Indian American Community Services, has gone on to be a resounding success, celebrating a second anniversary. A senior attendee shared, "their blood pressure improved just by participating each week," highlighting the program's impact on health and well-being. Additionally, the knitting club at the lodge has been recognized for knitting over 1,000 garments for those in need.
For more details or to get involved with the Beaver Lake Lodge activities, public information is available via email at [email protected] or by phone at 253-235-9989 (ext-3), the City of Sammamish noted.
